Beginning to Create My Dream Game
After making two small browser games here on itch, one working with a partner for a game jam and one solo project, I thought it was time to take my game development to the next level. Stay tuned for videos and announcements, but for now, check out the initial announcement devlog video!
The reason why I started to make games in the first place was to convey deep narratives. I've never considered myself a graphical artist. Glitch Dash has no story. My recent endless runner, Chinchilla Run, forced me to do quite a lot of artwork. I think it's about time I do the very thing I started making games for - narrative - and also to expand my knowledge of fields I have little experience in, like shader development and a unique and intricate art style.
The story is set in the fantastical elven city of Gadia-Sariel and will involve the need for the player to discover the truth behind a multi-layered scheme going on in the city.
I will be forced to learn many new skills, especially in the realm of animation, which is the main thing in game development I've often ran away from. But I happen to have a few extra hours every week recently, which I'm sure everyone can relate to, so why not take advantage of it? I'm very excited to get this game going, and I hope you all join me on this journey!
